The second commandment speaks to us of God's desire for a relationship with His people. He is jealous for us. But this means we can't bring idols into the relationship. Neither dare we make God into an image or idol of our own making. Instead He calls us to to know Him and to worship Him for who He is. This is love. This is what Jesus shows us.
